New Space Camp® Adventure Launches at Star Wars Celebration III

INDIANAPOLIS—Sci-Fi Fan Trips™ will launch its new Sci-Fi Fan Trips™ @ Space Camp ® program at this Thursday’s Star Wars Celebration III convention. This fabulous mini-week adventure combines authentic space shuttle and mission simulations with plenty of sci-fi gaming challenges with galactic titles such as Star Wars and Star Trek to delight both sci-fi fans and space scientists.

Jeannie Barresi, co-owner of Beyond Boundaries Travel states, “Budding astronauts and sci-fi fans alike won’t want to miss this extraordinary program that combines science fiction and the real-life science of space exploration in one exciting adventure.” Jeannie created Sci-Fi Fan Trips™ after fans shared with her their excitement about the release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. She continues, “Fans have always been interested in the science behind the science fiction. What more logical place to host Sci-Fi Fan Trips™ than Space Camp®!”

Three different trip options are available: Parent – Child 4-day/3-night program; Adult 4-day/3-night program; and Adult Aviation or Robotics Emphasis 6-day/5-night program. Trips commence on either October 26 (4-day) or 28 (6-day) and conclude on October 31. Prices range from $629 to $1499 depending on the program and the number of people in the group, exclusive of airfare and transfers. Each itinerary includes accommodations at the Habitat Building, a futurist dormitory that houses seven people in each room. All meals are provided throughout the week, including the final banquet.

Created by Sci-Fi Fan Trips™ in concert with Space Camp ®, fans will participate in Laser Weaponry Training, Galactic “Speeder” Tournaments, space rocket construction and launch, and star gazing. Mission orientation sets the tone for the week by immersing team members in learning mission terminology and acronyms, practicing radio communications, cockpit switches and computer systems. Sit in the seat of the cockpit as each team runs its Alpha/Bravo Missions in the authentic NASA-patterned space vehicles!

A highlight of the Sci-Fi Fan Trips™ @ Space Camp ® is the Science vs. Science Fiction Panel. Leading science fiction authors Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta (authors of the Star Wars Jedi Academy, Young Jedi Knights, and novels based on the X-Files, Dune, Saga of Seven Suns and others), and Josepha Sherman (fantasy, science fiction and Star Trek novelist) join scientists from NASA for a lively discussion.

There is an afternoon filled with more exciting events including a Fan Fiction Writing Workshop (led by one of the panelists), and Josepha Sherman’s popular presentation The Mythology of Star Wars or Star Trek (choice of one).
The highlight of the last evening is the Alien Costume “Party of the Galaxy” and Award Banquet. Guests dress up as their favorite science fiction character for this gala event. A themed menu, award presentations, Alien bar and karaoke will make this a party to remember!

Before leaving Space Camp, spend the last afternoon at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and enjoy an IMAX movie as well as the G-Force Accelerator, the Space Walk, Space Shot and the Mars Climbing Wall.

This exciting event is available only from Sci-Fi Fan Trips, a division of Beyond Boundaries Travel. For more information contact the company at 800-487-1136, or log on to the web at www.sci-fi-fantrips.com.
